the principle der Pixelgrafik

A pixel image consists of an arrangement of pixels. Its sharpness depends on the resolution—that is, it is defined by a fixed number of pixels representing the image data. The more pixels per inch an image contains, the sharper it appears and the higher its resolution.

the advantages

Unlike vector graphics, the images can be modified in terms of color "pixel by pixel."

the disadvantages

After enlarging a pixel-based image, it can easily lose sharpness and appear "pixelated." (see example above)

Eine Pixelbild-Datei beansprucht mehr Speicher als eine Vektorgrafik, d.h. mit der Zunahme von der Qualität, der Bildschärfe bzw. der Bildgröße nimmt auch Speicherbedarf drastisch zu.
